Pre- K3 Syllabus
Dear Parents,
We welcome you and your child to our classroom. This is a very special time in your child's life. We are proud and honor to be part of this time. This is going to be a great school year. Our curriculum is broken up into lessons, which includes: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, and Music.
Language Arts:
o Recognize letters A-Z
o Recognize colors
o Demonstrates understanding of new vocabulary words by following directions
o Uses new vocabulary words in conversation
o Repeats short rhyme or song
o Matches spoken words that begin with the same sound
o Demonstrates an understanding of rhyming words
o Names first letter of printed words
o Listens to book, story, or poem

o Recognize numbers 1-10
o Count 1-20
o Recognize shapes
o Uses one-to-one correspondence in counting
o Matches numerals to sets
o Combines and separates sets of objects
o Compares sets of items
Science:
o Uses the five senses to observe, describe and compare objects
o Learn about animals
Social Studies:
o Shares family experiences and / or traditions
o Follow classroom rules or rules of simple game
o Days of the week
o Months of the year
o Community helpers
Music:
o Play strong beat on instruments
o Move to show left and right
o Learn about sequencing in songs
o Practice adding movement with singing
Art:
Gain ability in using different art media and materials in a variety of ways for creative expression and representation Progresses in abilities to create drawings, paintings, models, and other art creations that are more detailed, creative, or realistic Understand and share opinions about artistic products and experiences
Class Rules
* Be polite
* Respect others
* Listen and follow directions
* Work quietly
* No talking or playing in line
Consequences
If your child does not follow the rules, the following consequences will occur:
1st time - student will get a verbal warning
2nd time - student will have 5 minutes taken off from recess
3rd time - note to parents
Rewards
If the students follow the classroom rules and get five stickers in a row on the daily behavior sheet, they will receive a surprise from the treasure box.
